Honorable Delegates and Guests,
My name is Christoforos-Dimitrios Zafeiris and I have the honour and the privilege to serve as one of the Deputy Secretary-Generals of the ThessISMUN 2017, which shall take place in University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, Greece. This will be my fifth time participating in ThessISMUN, as my MUN career started four (4) years ago in ThessISMUN 2013. After my first MUN experience, everything flowed naturally, as I found the necessary space for self-improvement, social interactions and knowledge-gaining. Such experience provided me the opportunity to improve personal skills, such as self-confidence, rhetoric skills and the ability to adapt, social skills, such as communication, diplomatic skills, understanding of others perspective. To conclude, I am confident to say, that after thirty (30) MUN participations, such Conferences and Models should not be missed, as they are not just a conference, but an investment on your self-development.
A few words about myself: I hold a degree with honors from the Sociology Department of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences and currently I am a MA Student on “Gender Studies”, an Inter-Departmental MA Programme in Panteion University, as well. My thesis proposal is on the ways that the elimination of gendered stereotypes in the international political discourse may improve the counter-terrorism policies and the “countering violent extremism” (CVE) practices. Also, I am part of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Youth of the United Nations, where I am engaged with promoting Sustainable Development Goals 5 (Gender Equality) and 10 (Reduced Inequalities). To sum up, my general interests and hobbies vary from poetry and literature, music and travelling, to tasting new cuisines and cooking.
