My name is Ioannis Maniatakos and I have the honor, and most importantly the pleasure to address you as the Chair of the UN Economic and Social Council of ThessISMUN 2019! Born in Mytilene, Lesvos in 1996 and raised mainly in Naoussa, Imathia, I am currently studying the Law in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. My interests include economics, diplomacy, politics and international law and I speak English, German and French.
As for my life as a MUNer, I firstly became involved in ThessISMUN 2016, as a delegate in the Economic and Social Council. Since then, I have successfully participated in more than 10 simulations of national, regional and international organizations, both as a delegate and a chairperson. Having participated in several conferences, I have finally discovered my passion for simulations, focusing mainly on International Trade Law agenda and economic cooperation, and my willingness to engage with them after my graduation. Moreover, through MUNs I managed to develop my skills in public speaking, negotiating and, after all, winning.
Personally, chairing the UN Economic and Social Council in ThessISMUN can be described as “coming home”. Having accomplished my MUN-goal, I am more than eager to assist each and every delegate of ECOSOC to get out of their comfort zone, to perform as better as possible and to inspire them to further engage with MUNs. This is actually, my ultimate MUN-goal!
Alongside with my talented partner, Anastasios, I can promise you a one-of-a-kind experience in May!
Finest regards!
