UN General Assembly – 3rd committee: Co-Chair

Esteemed delegates,

I am Irene Giannopoulou and I will be serving as the Co-Chair of the 3d Committee of the United Nations General Assembly in this year’s ThessISMUN. I am in my twentieth year of age and in my third year of studies in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. My faculty is Political Science and Public Administration with a specific focus on International and European studies. Model United Nations conferences have been a part of my life since junior high school.

They have been the reason I am always the one to be excited when there is a new scandal with a Russian spy, when I see an article on geopolitics, security and foreign affairs, when there is a live-streaming of a world leaders summit and so on. They have been the reason diplomacy started fascinating me from the early years of teenagehood, when being diplomatic is not an easy task. After all, they were the reason I chose to study International Relations and to aspire to make them a part of who I am, if I haven’t already. This is the third time I will serve as a Board member in an MUN conference and one of the many as a delegate – I couldn’t be looking more forward to it. Wish to see you all soon, meet you, witness you act as fierce delegates, learn from you and gain new experiences with you.

Thank you for your time,
Irene Giannopoulou
