Georgios Sklavounakis is currently in the 3 rd year of his undergraduate studies at the faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and, by the time you’ll meet him at ThessISMUN 2020, he will have turned 21 years old. This year, he has the honor of serving as the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe. George was born and raised in Thessaloniki and started simulations of this kind at the age of 14 when he was still in high school. Since then, he has participated in over 15 simulations of various such types, both in Greece and abroad, mainly as a delegate or as a member of the board. It’s his 3 rd time overall in ThessISMUN and 1 st as a member of the board.
He is fluent in English and French, and he’s currently mastering his command in Spanish. He has, also, participated in various conferences with his department of studies, and recently worked as an intern in the Greek State TV channel ERT3. In the future, he would like to continue his studies on the areas of art criticism, international relations, social policy, LGBT+ studies and sociology of modern pop culture.
His advice is “Be kind, gentle, open to learning new things and prepared to have fun.”. Along with the president and the vice-president of the Council, he is always at your disposal.
