Dimitris Lolitsas, UN Deputy Secretary General

Dimitris Lolitsas
UN Deputy Secretary General

Born and raised in Athens, Dimitris is a law school graduate and a trainee lawyer in Thessaloniki. From the very first semester of his studies, he fell in love with international law, while diplomacy, international relations, and European affairs are all topics he greatly enjoys exploring when given the chance. With ThessISMUN celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Dimitris feels honoured to serve as Deputy Secretary-General of this iconic conference that introduced generations of young people to the exciting world of international affairs and diplomacy.

Dimitris’ involvement with Model United Nations (MUN) began with ThessISMUN 2019, which undoubtedly was a turning point in his life. Following this experience, he never stopped exploring the world of MUN, either as a delegate, a coach, a board member and now a member of the Secretariat. In 2020, he co-founded the United Nations Society of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a student association that promotes the values and the work of the United Nations. For the academic year 2021-2022, Dimitris served as president of the society.

Dimitris firmly believes MUN to be a life-changing experience and highly encourages every student to give it a try. From learning how to make their voice heard in every discussion and acquiring a whole new set of useful skills, to greatly expanding their network and making a lot of new friends, Dimitris could hardly begin to list all the benefits one may reap through their involvement with MUN. As a result, ensuring that all delegates make the most of their participation in the conference is Dimitris’ top priority as a member of the Secretariat.

Dimitris is happy to welcome you all to ThessISMUN 2023!
